We rejoice in the opportunity to observe the holy season of Lent with people of all ages, and look forward to sharing leadership of these services with our youth program, our children's ministry and our 50+ ministry.
During the season of Lent, we are called into a season of reflection, repentance and the opportunity to make changes. We sometimes approach Lent by saying we are 'giving up chocolate or sweets' as a sacrifice, but what if we focus on letting go of things that keep us from following Christ with our lives? Identifying what we need to change and how we will make those changes requires time to reflect and the repentance of turning our lives back towards God for the strength, courage and inspiration it will take to make changes. This year at Trinity, we will examine together the things we need to give up that keep our lives from taking the shape of Christ's life; those include: envy, jealousy, self-pity, apathy, procrastination, gossip, resentment or negative thinking. Lent is a forty day season so we have opportunity to practice those changes. This is the season for giving something up for Lent that will make a difference forever! Our inspiration for this theme is based on James Moore's book Giving Up Bad Things for Lent!
