Trinity’s MCCI Process

I appreciate God's sense of humor.  Trinity has been utilizing resources from the Missional Church Consultation Initiative (MCCI) for close to a year and a half.  As we approach the season of Lent, one of the busiest times in the church calendar, God is calling us into the climax of our MCCI journey.  I have wrestled with God on this one, wondering why God picked this season to move us forward.  Lent is a busy time that calls us to think about our discipleship.  It's a time of preparation for the cross and the promise of resurrection.  Lent is a season marked by trying new spiritual practices and thinking about our place within a community of disciples.  As I reflected on this, I started to laugh.  That's why God is calling us forward at this time in our MCCI journey.  This is a time for us to prepare for the new expressions of ministry God is calling Trinity Church into.  This is a time to discern how God is calling us forward to make a difference in our communities, as individuals and as a congregation.  It's an exciting time in the life of Trinity, as we prepare for the Easter promise of new and renewed life.  Your voice is important.  Your ideas are important.  Your participation is important as we listen for the ways God is calling Trinity Church into the promises of Easter.  See the information below for details on our next steps in Trinity's MCCI journey.

Learn More about Each Important Day!

  • Wednesday, March 6 - Meal at 5:30pm, Program at 6:30pm

The Express Day jump-starts a new, fast moving leg of our MCCI journey! Throughout the day, leaders from the Missional Church Consultation Initiative will meet and interview church leaders, followed by an all-church listening and visioning session later in the evening.

    • We need as many members as possible to participate in this evening session.

    • A meal will served from 5:30pm-6:15pm. The event begins promptly at 6:30pm.

    • Childcare will be available for this event if requested. Please contact the church office if you will need childcare that evening.

  • Sunday, March 10 — Worship at 8:45am, Brunch following

Following the Express Day, MCCI leadership will compile a report based on their conversations with leaders, the session they host with the congregation, and materials about our congregation that were previously submitted. Their report will include several strengths and concerns they see in the congregation, along with three to five prescriptions that will help Trinity Church jumpstart a new lifecycle with a new future and vitality as a congregation. We will learn about their report as a congregation during worship on "Prescription Sunday."

    • We will have ONE WORSHIP SERVICE at 8:45am so we can all be together to hear the report and prescriptions.

    • You'll be invited to stay after worship for a delicious brunch in Fellowship Hall following worship that morning.

    • Worship will be held in-person and via live-stream at 8:45am and via radio at 11:00am.

    • Tuesday, March 12 at 6:30pm

    • Sunday, March 17 at 10:45am

    • Thursday, April 4 at 12:30pm (Light lunch at 12:00pm)

Trinity leadership will lead three town hall sessions where you will have the opportunity to learn more about our prescriptions, ask any questions you may have, and discuss them with fellow church members. Each gathering will take no more than one hour.

    • All gatherings will be held in the Sanctuary.

    • If you cannot join a town hall in-person, all three will be available via Zoom (see Flocknote or contact the office for the link).

    • There will not be time at the Church Conference to discuss and answer questions, so this is your main opportunity to do so.

  • Sunday, April 7 at 9:00am

Following our Prescription Sunday and Town Hall Gatherings, our district superintendent, the Rev. Park Hunter, will join us for a special Church Conference meeting to vote on our prescriptions. This meeting will be brief and will only include a time for voting on the prescription package.

    • This meeting will be held in the Sanctuary and will begin promptly at 9:00am.

    • If you plan to attend the 9:30am worship service, please arrive around 8:45am so you are ready to enter the worship space immediately following 8:00am worship.

    • If you cannot attend the meeting in-person, you may join via Zoom by contacting the church office by Thursday, April 4 at 12:00pm to register ahead of time.

  • Sunday, April 14

Following a positive vote at our special Church Conference meeting, everyone will have the opportunity to sign up to help implement the prescription they feel most called to assist with. The task teams that form will work with a ministry coach (provided by MCCI) to work through the each step of implementation. If the vote does not pass, our MCCI process will come to an end and we will not receive coaching or support through the MCCI process for future ministry.
