Mission & Outreach

Mission is at the heart of who we are as followers of Jesus Christ. In the United Methodist tradition, we believe faith is lived out through acts of compassion, service, justice, and generosity—sharing God's love in tangible ways with our neighbors, both near and far.

At Trinity, mission means caring for our community, responding to needs, building relationships, and partnering with organizations that bring hope and healing. Whether collecting school supplies, serving local families, supporting disaster relief, or participating in hands-on service projects, every act of kindness reflects Christ's love in action.

Together, we seek to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world—one person, one family, and one community at a time.

  • Midwest Missions

    Trinity Church Friends

    Tom and Denise Patterson have made annual weeklong trips to volunteer at Midwest Mission in Pawnee, IL, near Springfield since 2015. This year they spent two weeks in June and will serve two more weeks in August as Volunteer Leaders.

    Midwest Mission answers needs here and abroad due to poverty, conflict, and natural disaster. They have Mission Partner Organizations on the ground to help find out exactly what items and kits are needed and wanted. In filling their stated hopes and needs, we empower people for a better self-sustaining future.

    Midwest Mission assembles and distributes Personal Dignity Kits, Feminine Hygiene Kits, Student Kits, Layette Kits, Home Care Kits, Tornado Kits, Birthing Kits, Bed-Pack Kits, and Blessing Bags (Rice Meals). In addition, Midwest Mission assembles and ships three different kits for UMCOR.

    Midwest Mission has in-house shops to build School Desks, Refurbish Sewing Machines, and Refurbish Bicycles. Other needs are Sleeping Mats, Blankets, and handmade “Cover With Love Quilts.” Yes, Midwest Mission receives and distributes Sleeping Mats made right here at Trinity Church! Denise makes “Cover With Love Quilts” at home and delivered twenty-four on this trip.

    Volunteers and Staff pray over each pallet of supplies completed, and they have a prayer circle around every loaded truck leaving the building. On this trip they even prayed around an Ambulance being shipped to Honduras. Mission Staff present daily pictures, videos, and real-life stories where Midwest Mission supplies have changed lives and empowered them with hope!

    As Volunteer Leaders, Tom and Denise teach and lead volunteers to assemble, build, and package the many kits and supplies needed around the world.
